File This Under “Only in Princeton”

Today, in 1936, Princeton students and townspeople gathered to watch the German airship Hindenburg fly overhead!

So you know us, we wanted to know WHY WOULD THE HINDENBURG FLY OVER ‘LIL ‘OL PRINCETON?

It was billed as a “farewell tour,” and nicknamed “the millionnaire’s tour” co-hosted by Standard Oil Company of New Jersey, whose brass had all attended the best damn place of all!

They made sure the flight map included their beloved campus!
